Branson BLAX Wraps Up Season with a Gritty Showing Against Novato

The Branson Boys Lacrosse (BLAX) came to a close Thursday, June 3 with a very well played and hard fought loss to the powerful Novato Hornets. Novato came into the game undefeated, but our Bulls gave them all they could handle. This game really showed the significant development of this team. Led by the six graduating seniors, BLAX played its best collective defense of the year. Senior long sticks Oliver Koehne, Captains Lawrence Bancroft, Stone Shepard, and the up-and-coming Will Schuler all had outstanding performances, playing tough man to man defense, with some great sliding.

The middies had their strongest defensive performance of the year. Led by team high scorer Kenyon Graham, Nathan Kwei, (BLAX’s key faceoff man all season) Lui Martin, Zack Olrich, BJ Fischer, Alexander Getty, Leighton McCamy Miller, Oliver Broek, Nicholas Pfendler, Spencer Grant, Sasha Sherstnev, and Peter Stovell all contributed to a vastly improved ride, and goalie Jonathan Evers made some important saves to keep BLAX within reach.

This was not a scoreboard win, but it was a win for the coaches and players of the BLAX squad, who finished the game and season with enthusiasm, hustle, tenacity, and togetherness. Thank you to everyone involved with the ’21 BLAX team and good luck to our seniors.
