Branson Boys JV Soccer Outscores Novato 3-2 in Final Season Game
The Branson Boys JV Soccer team ended its season on a high note, defeating Novato 3-2 on February 6. A Novato kickoff started the game and Branson quickly set up a defensive trap in an attempt to keep Novato offsides. Unfortunately, this strategy did not work well and caused two consecutive goals for Novato in the first fifteen minutes. Recovering quickly, Branson dominated in possession and was able to keep the ball in Novato’s half, creating many opportunities on goal. Will Bollini delivered a fantastic throw which Lucas Segal smashed into the goal, bringing the score to 2-1 at halftime.
Branson dominated the game in the second half. Midfielders Alfredo Morales and Zach Olrich played strategic through-balls to their forwards who made great runs into the box and got many shots off. The boys continued passing the ball quickly on top of the box, creating many chances on goal. Branson was aggressive on offense, which allowed Lucas Segal to again get his foot on the ball and shoot it into the bottom corner of the net to tie up the game, 2-2.
Goalie Beau Weisman deflected several tough shots and Branson got control of the game again. With only a few minutes left, Ryan Herbst dribbled down the sideline and crossed the ball to Jack Rende, who was fouled. This resulted in a PK taken by Zach Olrich, who delivered the ball perfectly into the bottom left corner of the net. Branson ended the game and season with an exciting win against a tough competitor. Great game, Bulls!
