Rallying for four runs late in the game, the Bulls beat San Rafael 5-3 on Thursday, March 25, giving new head coach Steve Reinertsen a 2-0 start to the young season. With two on and two out in the bottom of the sixth, sophomore William Ashley drilled a double down the third base line to score sophomore Noam AuYeung and junior Jaiden Arcuri to put the Bulls ahead. Junior Cooper Hoffman closed the game for the Bulls with a strong relief performance, striking out San Rafael’s final batter to seal the win.

The top of the lineup led the offensive attack. Ashley and junior Brayden Mathews each went two for three, and AuYeung reached base four times, stealing two bases and scoring twice.

On the mound, the Bulls were led by a trio of freshmen making their MCAL debut, limiting San Rafael to one earned run over 4 ⅓ innings. Lefthander Charlie Zwibelman started for the Bulls, striking out two over two innings; Wilson Wendt struck out one in an inning of relief; and Cooper Tenney provided 2 ⅓ solid innings, aided by a nifty double play by Mathews and Hoffman to end a San Rafael rally in the fifth.
