Branson's DEI student leaders, English teacher Dr. Neha Kamdar, and the DEI office present Branson's inaugural Multicultural Film & Food Festival on Thursday, May 4 and Friday, May 5, 2023 on the Branson campus. The Multicultural Food and Film Festival will celebrate a kaleidoscope of diversity. Our selection of films coalesces around the theme of family. A curated selection of eight films will offer an opportunity for students to think about the different permutations in which families come together, and how they are affected by forces bigger than themselves, such as climate, global capital, immigration, war, or colonialism. The community will also celebrate diversity through their taste buds. Catering from local businesses in the Marin area will provide four different meals, offering a cultural experience that is both memorable and delicious. This event hopes to explore the diverse definitions of family, as well as celebrate the connections created around the dinner table. This event is for Branson students, faculty, and staff only. Classes will be held the morning in a condensed schedule. In the afternoons, students will choose two of eight international films to watch, with adult-facilitated discussions following the screenings. |
