Marine Biology Class Takes Field Trip to Monterey
Noam AuYeung '23 for Branson Communications

Branson's Marine Biology Class, taught by Science Teacher Peter Zdrojewski, traveled to Monterey last week for an all-day class field trip.

In the morning, students had free time to walk around the Monterey Bay Aquarium and check out the exhibits. Then, they grabbed lunch at the cafe. Afterward, they went to a nearby beach to prepare to swim and snorkel. Students brought wetsuits, fins, and snorkels and swam along the pier to observe the marine life. They saw sea lions basking on the rocks and in the water and incredible kelp forests and fish.

"My favorite part was getting in the water, swimming around, and seeing all the amazing marine life," a student from Peter Z.'s class noted. "I learned just how amazing and diverse the California coast is because I got to experience it firsthand." The student added, "I also learned that snorkel goggles tend to fog up pretty easily..."

Earlier in the year, the Marine Bio class learned about the physical and chemical aspects of the ocean, and the trip helped bring it to life for the students. All in all, the class had a blast bonding and enjoying all Monterey has to offer.
