On Friday, February 27, 2026 the Black Student Union (BSU) shared a special school-wide assembly in honor of Black History Month.
Music Teacher Jaimeo Brown spoke about Black cultural innovation and influences on nearly every form of popular music that students enjoy today. He then led a dynamic activity teaching about call & response, and with his students led a community-wide drum circle exploring polyrhythms with all 400+ attendees in the Gym. Watch a video clip.
Following an introduction from Gallard Fellow Josiah Harris, students interviewed Morehouse College seniors and Student Government leaders Kenny Ugo and Jivonne Feliciano.
It was an inspiring and interactive presentation topped off by a delicious soul food lunch in the Commons. Thank you, to the BSU members and guest presenters!
