Bulls Baseball Shows No Mercy to Athenian Owls

Branson’s baseball team earned a trip to the NCS Division 5 Semi-Finals with a shut-out victory over the Athenian Owls. The game ended in the bottom of the 5th inning by regulation once the Bulls achieved a 10 - 0 lead.

Brayden Mathews pitched the complete game, allowing only two hits and no runs over five innings.

Branson got on the board early, with Noam Au-Yeung getting the offense going with a lead-off hit in the first inning. Mathews and Will Ashley got on base, and a ground ball by Luke Shane scored Au-Yueng.

The Bulls exploded on offense in the second inning, staging a 2-out rally to end the inning up 5 - 0. Liam Shlager got the offense going with a triple to right field, followed by a triple by Au-Yeung.  The Bulls loaded the bases with two walks, and hits by Shane and Jaiden Arcuri brought home a total of four runs in the second inning.

The Bulls closed out the game in the 5th inning with another offensive display.  Liam Parrot led with a single. Mo Jacoby advanced to first after being hit by a pitch, and his excellent base running brought him home. Shlager walked.  Totaling his third hit on the day, Au-Yeung doubled, bringing Shlager home. Mathews contributed a line drive to center field, scoring Au-Yeung, bringing the score to 10 - 0 and ending the game.
