Branson Girls Take 5th in Class A NCS Championships
Holly St. John

The Branson Girl Bulls placed 5th at Northern California Section Class A Championships on Saturday in Santa Rosa against 43 other small schools. The girls team rallied through 90F scorching heat for a great showing in track and field events. The girls 4x400 team (Alexa Polsky, Zoe Hahn, Elena Trimble, andImogen Brown) ran for 8th place in the blazing heat.  Less than one hour earlier, the girls 4x800 team (Zoe Hahn, Paige Macy, Katya Crawford, and Imogen Brown) placed 5th with a last second substitute by Paige Macy due to heat issues for another athlete. Thanks, Paige!

Ivy Brenner threw her magical shot-put for 4thplace in the championships, and a personal best of 32ft 5.5in, beating her old record by MORE THAN THREE FEET! WOW!  Tara Curtin once again bounced her way to victory with a 1st place in the high jump, jumping 5ft 3in for a new personal best, and a 2nd place in the long jump at 16ft 8in. That’s pretty bouncy!

Alexa also ran a fantastic 800m, placing a solid 8th in that contest.  Last, but in no way least, Adeline Johnson coasted to 2nd place in the 1600, zoomed to 1st place in the 800m, and also grabbed 1st place in the 3200m. Both Addie and Tara will proceed to the North Coast Section Meet of Champions on May 19th and 20th where Tara will compete in high jump and long jump, and Addie will compete in the 1600m and 3200m.  Go Bulls!
