Steve Reinertsen ’82

Coach of Cross Country & Baseball

Steve Reinertsen is a 1982 graduate of The Branson School. Steve coached cross country at Branson for 22 years (Assistant Coach from 1985 to 1987; Head Coach from 1992 to 2002; Head Coach 2010 to 2017). Eight runners won individual league championships during Steve’s 19 years as head coach. Twelve Branson athletes medaled at state under Steve’s tutelage (top ten medal in the 200-runner race; Julia Maxwell ’14 won three golds, Anna Harleen ’14 a silver, and Matt Marks ’01 a bronze). Four of the eight teams he coached that qualified for the state meet finished in the top five at that race; all but one of the eight finished in the top ten. Branson’s girls team won the 2013 Division 5 State Championship; that team remains the only Marin girls squad to win a state title. Steve was also an Assistant Baseball Coach at Branson from 2011 to 2017. The team won their first and only NCS Championship in 2015.

Steve coached Marin youth baseball and football teams to dozens of championships in the early 2000’s. He lives in San Anselmo with his wife Laura ’84, along with their four cats and College of Marin athletes Randy Fernandez and Christian Merriwether. Older son Sam ’15 pitches for Davidson College in North Carolina, and younger son Henrik ’17 pitches for the University of the Pacific in Stockton.
